This course will discuss the Bank Secrecy Act and the importance of recordkeeping and reporting in particular to the role of teller. The learner will be exposed to different means of reporting. After completing the program the learner will be able to:

  • Differentiate between Suspicious Activity Reports, Monetary Instrument Logs, and Currency Transaction Reports.
  • Utilize customer identification procedures.
  • Recognize potential red flags and suspicious activity.

This course will introduce the learner to the role of the RMLO in ensuring that s/he remains compliant with all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act in everything that s/he does at the institution. The course will familiarize the learner with the Act itself, in addition to how, when, and why to file CTRs and SARs, in addition to how to apply BSA requirements to other aspects of the institution’s operations. After completing this course, the learner will understand:

  • How to complete and file a CTR and a SAR.
  • How to maintain an effective Customer Identification Program (CIP).
  • How the USA PATRIOT Act affects BSA requirements.

This course will discuss the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the importance of recordkeeping and reporting to the position of the lender. The learner will be exposed to different means of reporting, such as Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs). After completing the program the learner will be able to:

  • Differentiate between SARs and CTRs.
  • Use customer identification procedures.
  • Recognize potential red flags and suspicious activity while adhering to responsibilities of the position of lender.
